Why We Exist

Great nonprofits don’t fail because they lack passion or purpose. They struggle because they lack visibility.

Every day, nonprofits change lives by feeding families, mentoring youth, improving education, protecting the environment, and strengthening communities. Yet many of our most passionate nonprofit leaders lack the resources, time or talent to effectively tell their story. They get busy doing good and burn out before the vision reaches the right audience.

Without strong marketing and storytelling:

  • Donors never discover the mission.
  • Volunteers don’t know how to get involved.
  • Funders struggle to see an impact.
  • Communities never receive critical services.
  • Organizations miss opportunities to secure sustainable funding and grow their mission.

Marketing is NOT overhead. Marketing is the lifeblood of an effective movement. When nonprofit organizations clearly communicate who they are and why their work matters, they attract more support and ultimately serve more people.

The Nonprofit Storytellers, Inc. exists to ensure that every nonprofit, regardless of size or budget, has access to the storytelling and marketing tools needed to grow and thrive.

The Purpose Behind Our Story

What We Do

The Nonprofit Storytellers is a nonprofit capacity-building organization focused on helping other nonprofits amplify their impact through strategic marketing and storytelling.

1. Education & Membership

Our primary initiative is an educational membership platform designed specifically for nonprofit leaders. Members gain access to:

  • Educational videos and marketing resources
  • Storytelling and communications training
  • A collaborative community of peer support
  • Guidance and mentorship from The Nonprofit Storytellers leadership team

Membership fees create a sustainable revenue model while empowering nonprofit organizations with practical tools to grow their missions.

2. Marketing Support Program

Revenue generated through memberships helps fund direct marketing support for selected nonprofit organizations. Eligible nonprofits apply through a formal process, with applications reviewed by the Board of Directors based on:

  • Community impact
  • Storytelling potential
  • Financial stewardship
  • Organizational vision

Selected organizations receive customized marketing support designed to increase visibility, strengthen fundraising efforts, and expand community engagement. Services are provided by experienced marketing professionals who align with our mission and values.

The Role of the

Board of Directors

Together, our Board is committed to building an organization that transforms the nonprofit sector. Success will require more than governance. It will require each Board Member to invest their time, talent, and network while championing our mission within their own communities.

Board members play a critical role in advancing the organization’s mission by:

  • Providing strategic leadership and governance
  • Reviewing and selecting nonprofit applicants for Marketing Support
  • Ensuring responsible financial oversight and accountability
  • Supporting fundraising and partnership development
  • Serving as ambassadors for the organization within their networks
  • Guiding long-term growth while remaining aligned with the mission, vision, and values

Each Board member plays a direct role in expanding the number of nonprofits we can serve by meeting a give/get requirement of $1,500 each year. The term “give/get” refers to:

  • Give: Making a personal monetary or in-kind donation to the organization.
  • Get: Securing contributions from others (individuals, companies, foundations) on behalf of the organization.

Why Join the Board?

Serving on the Board of The Nonprofit Storytellers is an opportunity to build stronger nonprofit organizations by investing in one of their greatest needs: the ability to tell their story effectively.

By joining this movement, you help organizations attract more donors, engage more volunteers, increase awareness, and ultimately create greater impact in the communities they serve.

Additionally, service on this board boosts your visibility to a vast network of nonprofit leaders and community organizers, those
